Unit Awards
Unit awards recognize the collective achievement of Coast Guard commands and units for outstanding performance.
Presidential Unit Citation
Awarded to units for extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy. The unit must display gallantry and determination equivalent to that required for the Navy Cross.
Coast Guard Unit Commendation
Awarded to units for valorous or extremely meritorious service not involving combat. Recognizes outstanding collective achievement.
Meritorious Unit Commendation
Awarded to units for meritorious service, valorous actions, or superior performance. Lower threshold than Unit Commendation but still recognizes exceptional achievement.
Coast Guard "E" Ribbon
Awarded to units demonstrating excellence in operational readiness. The "E" signifies efficiency excellence in Coast Guard missions.
Coast Guard Bicentennial Unit Commendation
Special commendation issued for the Coast Guard's 200th anniversary, recognizing units' contributions to the bicentennial celebration.
